British car manufacturer probably saw an opportunity in this and are trying to create the name for themselves in this very competitive market. In the past, there have not been many British car manufacturers that have made SUVs. MG has rectified this however with the introduction of the MG GS SUV. These models will come at the expense of a new sports car, something that wouldn’t sell in the same numbers as a family SUV. MG GS will be joined by a smaller SUV designed to rival the Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008.
2018 MG GS SUV Exterior And Interior Design
The outside of new MG SG looks very imposing and sportive, with sharp edges and a lot of angles traced all over the bodywork. The GS is based on a new scalable SUV platform, accessed by MG Motor via parent company SAIC and is entirely conventional.
The iconic MG octagonal badge is framed by the width length front grille that also frames the swept-back headlights. The GS also features hockey-stick-shaped LED daytime running lights. The rear end of the MG GS SUV shares fewer similarities with other models. The side mirrors may come as a disadvantage in terms of rear visibility.
The interior is neatly styled and improved compared to the MG 6 model. The models we’ve seen so far are in Chinese specification, and MG’s sales and marketing director suggested the materials could be improved to appeal to European buyers. The dashboard will be completely new compared to the others MG models. Here we can see 6.0 inch LCD display mounted with updated infotainment system for better entertainment of the passengers. Safety features will include ventilated disc brakes front and rear, six airbags, rear-view camera and electronic stability control.

Beneath the hood of the MG, SG SUV sits options for a few engine system. Although information regarding the engine used at the MG GS SUV are not yet confirmed. Power in the GS is provided by a 1.5 litre four cylinder turbocharged and direct-injected petrol engine, developed with technical and anagrammatic partner GM. This engine will be able to produce up to 160 hp and 180 lb ft torque. There is also a 2.0 liter four cylinder petrol engine, capable of producing up to 217 hp and 258 lb ft torque. The engine systems will sent to the front wheels through a seven speed double-clutch automatic transmission. This is a decent engine for 2018 MG GS SUV.
